The Atari VCS is a connected device. You need an Internet connection to create your account, download updates, make purchases, and access streaming services.
WiFi Connection Required
The first time you power up your Atari VCS to set up your account, you must connect to WiFi. Even if you connect it to your network via an ethernet connection, that connection will be ignored until after you first login. Once you are logged into your account you can access the SYSTEM SETTINGS to turn on ethernet connectivity.
System Update
The first time you use your Atari VCS it will automatically download an update to the operating system. This can take minutes to 1 hour+, depending upon the speed of your internet connection.
